S890QL steel is a high-strength structural steel grade with EN 10025-6 compliance. Its minimum yield strength is 890 MPa and tensile strength is very good at between 940–1100 MPa. Its chemical makeup consists of carbon (≤0.22%), manganese (≤1.80%), silicon (≤0.80%), chromium (≤1.50%), nickel (≤2.00%), and trace elements of boron, vanadium, molybdenum, and other microalloying constituents. Together with elongation of ≥11%, the steel also exhibits impact toughness of 50 J at 0°C, 40 J at –20°C, and 30 J at –40°C. Such attributes provide firmness, even in low-temperature and heavy-load conditions.
