In many different industries, carbon steel tubing is well known for its strength, longevity, and affordability. In order to satisfy different pressure and structural requirements, it is produced using carbon-rich steel grades and is available in seamless and welded forms. Construction, automotive, oil and gas, boiler systems, and mechanical engineering all make extensive use of carbon steel tubing. It comes in a range of sizes and wall thicknesses and is available in several grades, including ASTM A179, A192, A210, and A106. It is well-known for performing well under pressure, making it perfect for applications involving fluid gearbox and structural support.
Depending on the grade, carbon steel tubing normally contains 0.05% to 0.30 percent carbon and trace amounts of silicon, phosphorus, sulphur, and manganese. It is able to balance ductility and strength because of its composition. Tensile strength between 415 and 630 MPa, yield strength ≥240 MPa, and elongation ≥20% are common mechanical properties, though they vary by specification. While higher-carbon grades offer better hardness and wear resistance, low-carbon varieties offer better formability and weldability. By improving corrosion resistance through heat treatment and surface coatings, carbon steel tubing can be used in both high- and low-temperature service settings.
