Carbon Steel ASME SA 179 Tubing is largely made up of 0.06–0.18% carbon and 0.27–0.63% manganese with very small amounts of sulfur and phosphorus. These elements help provide superior heat transfer, good strength, and reliable low-temperature service. It provides a minimum tensile strength of 325 MPa, yield strength of 180 MPa, and elongation of 35% and is thus strong as well as ductile.
