HB 500 plates are made from a composition of low-alloy steel that has carbon (0.27–0.30%), manganese (max 1.60%), silicon (max 0.60%), chromium (max 1.50%), nickel (max 1.50%), and molybdenum (max 0.60%). These elements improve the wear resistance and hardness of the steel. The plates have a Brinell hardness of 450–540 HBW, yield strength of about 1400 MPa, and an elongation of about 10%, guaranteeing exceptional toughness and durability upon impact. Such mechanical properties render HB 500 the best option for highly abrasive and mechanically demanding processes.
