SAE 1020 Tubing is an alloy of low-carbon steel containing a chemical composition that is about 0.18–0.23% carbon and 0.30–0.60% manganese with traces of phosphorus and sulfur. This alloy offers good weldability and machinability. It has mechanical properties like tensile strength of about 420 MPa, yield strength of about 350 MPa, and elongation of 15–30%, based on processing conditions.
