AISI 52100 Alloy Steel Bars consist of high carbon (~1.0%) and high chromium (~1.5%), which provide them with hardness, strength, and abrasion resistance. Other constituents such as silicon, manganese, and trace sulfur enhance machinability and toughness. Following heat treatment, the bars have a tensile strength of 700 to 1000 MPa, high fatigue strength, and dimensional stability. They are also characterized by better polishability and surface finish when precision machining is used. Wear resistance and hardenability of the steel render it a leading candidate for critical applications needing durability and close tolerances.
