ASTM A537 Plates and Sheets are carbon-manganese-silicon steels, with added phosphorus, sulfur, and trace elements of chromium and molybdenum for improved strength. The plates are generally heat-treated (quenched and tempered) in order to enhance toughness and resistance to impact. They provide a tensile strength of 485–620 MPa and a minimum yield strength of approximately 345 MPa. With very good ductility and anti-brittle fracture, ASTM A537 materials meet the ASTM and ASME standards and are therefore suitable for application in high-temperature and high-pressure conditions where structural stability and durability are critical.
