EN 19 Sheets and Plates, often referred to as 708M40, are high tensile alloy steels that contain approximately 0.35–0.45% carbon, 0.50–0.80% manganese, along with notable amounts of chromium (0.90–1.50%) and molybdenum (0.20–0.40%). These elements work together to provide outstanding strength, toughness, and wear resistance. Typically, EN 19 plates exhibit tensile strength ranging from 850–1000 MPa and yield strength around 680 MPa when heat treated, along with good machinability and fatigue resistance.
