S500MC steel, meeting EN 10149-2 standards, is a high-strength low-alloy steel with a yield strength of at least 500 MPa. Its chemical analysis contains carbon (≤0.12%), manganese (≤1.70%), silicon (≤0.50%), phosphorus (≤0.025%), sulfur (≤0.015%), and micro-alloying agents such as niobium, titanium, vanadium, and aluminum. It has tensile strength between 550–700 MPa, with elongation of 12–14% based on thickness. Cold-forming is the intended application of S500MC, which provides impact toughness of 40 J at -20°C, providing excellent resistance under low-temperature conditions. Its strong strength and ductility make it most suitable for heavy-duty structural applications.
