SA 516 Grade 70 is a carbon steel plate alloyed with carbon (0.27–0.31%), manganese (0.79–1.30%), and small amounts of phosphorus and sulfur (max 0.035%). It offers a minimum yield strength of 260 MPa and exceptional tensile strength between 485 and 620 MPa. It exhibits improved ductility, impact resistance, and notch toughness when supplied in the normalized state, particularly at low temperatures.
